The Irvine clan is historical. The clan's origins can be traced back to the 12th century, with early records of the Irvine family in Scotland dating back to between 1124 and 1165. The Irvines are known for their support of Robert the Bruce during the Wars of Independence and their connection to the royal forest of Drum. 

The Irvines are believed to have originated in Dumfriesshire, where they held land and castle since 1325, granted by Robert the Bruce. 

The Irvines were close allies of the Bruce family and provided significant support during the Wars of Independence. 

The clan was awarded Drum Castle in Aberdeenshire by Robert the Bruce, which has been in Irvine possession ever since
