Home Clan History:

The Home clan is historical. They are a Scottish clan with roots tracing back to the Scottish Borders region, particularly Berwickshire. The clan is associated with Hume Castle, which dates back to the 13th century, though the castle was later destroyed by Oliver Cromwell. The Home family has a long and significant history in Scottish politics and military affairs. 

The Home clan descends from Cospatrick I, Earl of Northumbria, in the 11th century. They held the barony of Home from early times and are believed to be of Boernician origin. 

The clan's original seat was Hume Castle, a well-fortified structure in Berwickshire. The castle was captured and held by the English during the Rough Wooing period, but was later reclaimed by the Scots in a midnight attack. 

The Home clan was a powerful force in Scottish politics and military matters, with members holding significant positions and titles. They were involved in key events, such as the Battle of Flodden, and their allegiance shifted during times of political turmoil. 

The clan has produced notable individuals, including the 6th Lord Home, who was created Earl of Home in the early 17th century, and Alec Douglas-Home, who served as British Prime Minister in 1963.
